Nowhere to Run is a collection of personal stories, artwork and reflections on disability, recovery, resilience, humour and finding a way forward.

Born from my Journey of Words project, each chapter is paired with an original word-art illustration, combining hidden messages, personal experiences and visual storytelling.

After years of creating word art, a life-changing neurological condition led to wheelchair use and a very different journey than I had imagined.

This book explores that path with honesty, humour and reflection.

From unexpected challenges and rehabilitation milestones to moments of hope, frustration and laughter, Nowhere to Run shares the reality of adapting to life when everything changes.

Available as a paperback, ebook and audiobook.

I chose this audio version of one of my book chapters, I Miss You, to share with you.

The passing of my beloved dog Smithy cracked my heart open, and the words for my book spilled out as words, but also as this piece of art.

When he had passed and Christmas came around, I would sign cards to friends who loved him too with my name, Alfie and Smithy’s paw print, as usual. The first Christmas without him, I sketched a paw with wings and a halo, creating the outline for this piece.

This chapter followed.

I was going to record it again without the wobble in my voice towards the end, but it is real. Why would I erase the sound of love and loss when it is something all humans experience? Here it is, and thank you for listening.
