Journey of Words respects your privacy and understands that the words, memories and stories you share when creating personalised artwork can be very personal.

This policy explains what personal information I collect, why I need it and how it is used.
1. Information I Collect
Depending on how you use Journey of Words, I collect information such as:
- your name
- email address
- telephone number where required
- billing and delivery information
- order information
- correspondence between us
- your artwork choices
- words supplied for your artwork
- memories, stories and explanations you choose to share
- information supplied when downloading a free resource
- your email marketing preferences

2. How I Use Your Information
Your information is used to:
- process and manage your order
- create your personalised artwork
- communicate with you about your Journey
- deliver your digital or physical artwork
- provide customer support
- deal with questions, changes or concerns
- maintain appropriate business and financial records
- operate the website
- comply with legal obligations
- send Journey of Words marketing emails where you have chosen to receive them or another lawful basis applies
3. Your Words, Memories and Stories
Creating Journey of Words artwork can involve sharing words, memories and stories that are personal to you.
Your original word lists, memories, explanations and stories are treated as private and are not shared with others as part of the creative process.
Your chosen words will appear within your finished artwork.
4. Payments
Journey of Words does not store your debit or credit card details.
Payments are securely processed by the payment method/provider you choose at checkout.
The information necessary to process your payment is handled by that payment provider.
5. Website Orders
Journey of Words uses WooCommerce to manage website orders.
When you place an order, the information required to process and fulfil that order is recorded through the Journey of Words website and WooCommerce system.
This includes information such as your name, contact information, billing or delivery information and details of your order.
6. Email Marketing and Mailchimp
If you choose to receive Journey of Words emails, your name and email address are stored using Mailchimp, the email service I use to manage and send newsletters.
These emails can include Journey of Words news, inspiration, products and offers.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link contained in marketing emails.
I will respect your choice if you no longer want to receive marketing.
7. Free Downloads
If you provide your email address to receive a free Journey of Words download, the information you provide will be used to deliver that resource.
Where you are also given the choice to join the Journey of Words mailing list, marketing consent will be separate and optional.
Choosing not to receive marketing will not prevent you receiving the resource you requested.
8. Who Your Information Is Shared With
Your personal information is not sold to third parties.
Information needed to place and manage an order is processed through the Journey of Words website and WooCommerce.
Payment information needed to complete your purchase is securely processed by your chosen payment provider. Journey of Words does not store your debit or credit card details.
If you subscribe to Journey of Words marketing emails, the contact information needed to manage your subscription is processed through Mailchimp.
Your private word lists, memories and stories are not supplied to Mailchimp for marketing purposes.
9. International Data Transfers
Some service providers I use, including Mailchimp, can process personal information outside the UK.
Where personal information is transferred internationally, appropriate safeguards are used in accordance with applicable UK data protection requirements.
10. Lawful Bases For Using Your Information
The legal basis for using your information depends on why it is needed.
Contract
Information needed to process your order, create your artwork, communicate with you and fulfil your purchase is used because it is necessary to perform our contract.
Legal obligation
Some information is retained where I am legally required to keep appropriate business, tax or accounting records.
Legitimate interests
Information can be used where reasonably necessary to operate and protect Journey of Words, provided those interests do not override your rights.
Consent
Where I rely on your consent, such as where you actively choose to receive marketing emails, you can withdraw that consent at any time.
11. How Long I Keep Information
Personal information is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and to meet relevant legal, tax and accounting requirements.
Marketing information is kept while you remain subscribed.
If you unsubscribe, limited information can be retained where necessary to record your request and make sure you are not accidentally added back to marketing communications.
12. Keeping Your Information Secure
I take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access or disclosure.
No online system can guarantee absolute security, but your information is handled with appropriate care.
13. Your Data Protection Rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law gives you rights relating to your personal information.
These can include the right to:
- ask what personal information I hold about you
- ask for inaccurate information to be corrected
- request deletion in certain circumstances
- request restriction of processing in certain circumstances
- object to certain uses of your information
- withdraw consent where processing relies on consent
- request transfer of your information where applicable
Some of these rights are subject to legal exceptions.

I may update this Privacy Policy as Journey of Words develops or legal requirements change.
