These Terms & Conditions apply when you purchase a Journey of Words product or commission through my website.
1. About Journey of Words
Journey of Words creates personalised artwork using words, memories, feelings and details chosen or supplied by you.
Each artwork is individually created and hand-painted. Depending on the Journey you choose, your order may include digital artwork, personalised creative services and/or an original physical artwork.
The contents, price and expected turnaround time for your chosen Journey are shown on the relevant product page when you order.
2. Placing Your Order
Please check the information you provide when ordering carefully.
After placing your order, you will receive confirmation and information explaining what happens next.
For The Keepsake, your next steps will normally be sent by email.
Where your chosen Journey includes WhatsApp support, I will contact you through WhatsApp to begin the creative process.
3. Your Words, Colours and Personalisation
Your artwork is created using the words, colours and other personalisation details you choose.
Before I begin painting, I will ask you to confirm your final words and relevant personalisation details.
I triple-check words and spellings, and you will have the opportunity to check them too.
This gives you a final opportunity to correct a spelling, change a word or make an agreed last-minute change before painting begins.
4. Final Confirmation
Once you have confirmed your words, colours and other agreed personalisation details and I have begun painting, changes of mind to those confirmed choices are not included in the original price.
For example, deciding after painting has begun that you would prefer different words or a different colour combination would be considered a change to your confirmed personalisation rather than an error with your order.
If a requested change is still possible, I will explain what is involved and let you know beforehand if there will be an additional charge.
I will not carry out additional chargeable work without agreeing it with you first.
5. If I Make a Mistake
If I make an error in your artwork or it does not reflect the personalisation details we agreed and confirmed, please contact me.
I will work with you to put it right. Depending on the circumstances, this could include correcting, recreating or replacing the affected artwork.
Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.
6. If You Are Unhappy With Your Artwork
I want you to be happy with your Journey of Words.
If you have a concern when you receive your artwork, please contact me at sammie@journeyofwords.co.uk and tell me what you are unhappy with.
I will listen to your concern and work with you to find an appropriate solution where reasonably possible.
A change of mind about words, colours, outlines or other personalisation that you previously confirmed does not automatically include a free redesign or repaint.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory consumer rights.
7. Cancellations and Personalised Artwork
Journey of Words artwork is personalised and created specifically for you.
Personalised or custom-made goods are generally excluded from the usual change-of-mind cancellation rights that apply to many online purchases.
Different rules can apply depending on whether your order includes personalised goods, services and/or digital content.
Where you have a legal right to cancel, that right will be honoured.
If you wish to cancel your order, please contact sammie@journeyofwords.co.uk as soon as possible.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights where something is faulty, not as described or otherwise fails to meet applicable legal requirements.
8. Digital Artwork
Where your Journey includes digital artwork, it will be supplied as a high-resolution digital file.
Journey of Words digital artwork is created at 5000 × 5000 pixels and is suitable for high-quality printing up to approximately A3 size, subject to the printer, paper and printing method used.
Colours can appear slightly different between screens and printed materials because different screens, printers and papers reproduce colour differently.
9. Physical Artwork
Where your chosen Journey includes an original physical artwork, its specifications will be shown on the relevant product page.
Once you have confirmed your personalisation and work has begun, substantial changes to previously approved words, colours or design choices may require additional work and an additional charge.
Any additional cost will always be discussed and agreed with you before the work is carried out.
If your physical artwork is faulty, damaged, incorrect or not as described, please contact me so I can put things right in accordance with your statutory rights.
10. Turnaround Times
The expected turnaround time for each Journey is shown on the relevant product page.
Turnaround normally begins once I have received the information needed to create your artwork.
If you need your artwork for a particular birthday, wedding, anniversary or other date, please let me know as early as possible.
If I become aware of anything likely to cause a significant delay, I will let you know.
11. Delivery
Digital artwork will be delivered electronically.
Where your Journey includes physical artwork, it will be sent using the delivery arrangements described or agreed with you.
Please make sure the contact and delivery information you provide is correct.
12. Copyright and Personal Use
Unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing, copyright in the artwork and artistic design remains with Sammie Edgar / Journey of Words.
Your purchase allows you to enjoy your commissioned artwork for personal use, including displaying it and printing your supplied digital artwork for personal use.
The artwork must not be reproduced commercially, sold as copies, licensed to another business or claimed as another person’s work without my written permission.
If you require additional usage rights, please contact me to discuss them.
13. Finished Artwork
Journey of Words may photograph or display finished artwork as examples of my work, including on my website, portfolio, social media or promotional materials.
If you would prefer your finished artwork not to be displayed publicly, please tell me and I will respect your request.
The private memories, explanations and stories you share during the creation process are treated separately and are not published as part of displaying the finished artwork.
14. Privacy
Your personal information and the words, memories and stories you share with me are handled in accordance with the Journey of Words Privacy Policy.
15. Prices and Payment
The price displayed for your chosen Journey at the time you order is the price you will pay, unless you subsequently request and agree to additional work.
Any additional charge will be explained and agreed with you before the additional work is carried out.
Payments are securely processed through the payment method available at checkout. Journey of Words does not store your debit or credit card details.
16. Complaints
If something has gone wrong, please contact me so I have the opportunity to help.

17. Your Statutory Rights
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or restricts your rights under applicable UK consumer law.
18. Changes to These Terms
These Terms & Conditions may be updated from time to time.
The terms applying to your purchase will normally be those in force when you place your order.
19. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws applicable in England and Wales.
If you are a consumer elsewhere in the UK, you may also have mandatory consumer protections applicable where you live.
